GBSI was proud to participate as a Diamond level “Identify” sponsor of the first ever CyberThon event, a real-world cybersecurity test for local high school students. The event saw over one hundred cybersecurity and IT experts from government, industry and academia across Escambia County gather on January 23-25 at the prestigious National Flight Academy aboard NAS Pensacola. CyberThon offered hands-on training to students while increasing awareness of the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals in the workforce.
As president of the AFCEA Blue Angels Pensacola Chapter, GBSI founder and CEO Randy Ramos hosted the event and moderated a lineup of distinguished government and military speakers and guests. Praised by local leaders as a community success story, the inaugural CyberThon raised more than $36,000 in sponsor funding to be distributed via AFCEA scholarships toward the advancement of cybersecurity training and events. Members of the GBSI technical and public relations team were also heavily involved in the organization, setup, and marketing of the event.
